Mr. Nabindra Raj Joshi is the leader of the Nepali Congress. Mr. Joshi was elected as Constituent Assembly Member representing Kathmandu in 2006, serving as a member of the State Restructuring Committee on Assembly. He also served as spokesman of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party.
As a student, Mr. Joshi started his political career as a Central Committee member of the Nepal Student Union in 1980, later becoming General Secretary in 1986. He was elected as Secretary of the Free Student Union at Trichandra College (1982-1984). He was one of the youngest office bearers at Kathmandu Metropolitan City, where he was elected as Deputy Mayor at the age of 27 in the first election of local bodies held after the restoration of democracy in 1990. During his tenure (1992-1997), he contributed significantly to both the modernization of the city and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Mr. Joshi is also a board member at the Kantipur College of Management and Information Technology (KCMIT) and president of Bir Ganeshman Academy. He grew up listening to the daring stories of Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala and Ganesh Man Singh and was influenced by their social democratic values and ideologies. He was the executive producer of Bir Ganesh Man, a movie depicting life and time of late Ganesh Man Singh.
