Ms. Soni Joshi has been an active advocate for education and gender issues for the past two decades. She worked with the United Nations Women's Organization for five years raising awareness about gender equality in schools across Nepal and served as the first Nepali president of Active Women of Nepal. She currently serves as the president of the Centre for Health, Education, Training and National Advocacy (CHETANA), an organization that assists differently-abled individuals, and as the board director at Naaya Aayam Multi-Disciplinary Institute and Kantipur College of Management and Technology.
Ms. Joshi received her Master's degree in Rural Development and Gender Studies from the South Asian Institute of Technology affiliated with Purbanchal University. She also has a post graduate diploma in Women's Studies from Padma Kanya College, Tribhuvan University.
