Visit to ICIMOD

On October 1st, 2015, ICMS students, staff and Chairman, Dr. Ram Thapalyia, had the opportunity to visit with Dr. David J. Molden, Director General of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).  Having previously coordinated with ICIMOD for our first batch students, today's meeting focused on moving forward in collaboration for future fieldtrips, seminars, workshops, and thesis proposals.

A little about ICIMOD:

Founded in 1983, ICIMOD is a regional intergovernmental learning and knowledge sharing centre serving th eight regional member countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region, including: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Mnyamar, Nepal, and Pakistant, along with the global mountain community.  ICIMOD acts as a knowledge development and learning centre to build awareness and take action to preserve the unique role that the HKH mountain system plays.  The Centre is working to develop an economically and environmentally sound mountain ecosystem to improve the lives and livelihoods of mountain people- now, and for the future.
