Meeting with Gabrielle Emery from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
Friday evening, ICMS had the opportunity to dine and sit down with members from IFRC Nepal. We had the pleasure of discussing with Gabrielle Emery, Coordinator for Asia Pacific Disaster Law Programme, regarding collaboration on a workshop on International Disaster Response Law and developing guidelines to facilitate and manage international disaster response in Nepal. We are looking forward to working with her and the IFRC team in the future. If you do not already know, here is a little background of what the IFRC does:
"The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian and development network, with millions of volunteers in 189 member National Societies.
We are guided by Strategy 2020 – our collective plan of action to tackle the major humanitarian and development challenges of the present decade. We will continue ‘saving lives and changing minds’ by focusing our work in three key areas: 1) disaster response and recovery, 2) development and 3) promoting social inclusion and peace."
