Prof Narbada Thapa joined the Nepal Army in 1988 as a second Leiutenant and became the  Brigadier General. She retired in 2017 after a very long and distinguished career that she concluded as a Founding Principal of the college of Nursing and professor in community Medicine, Institute of Medicine. She currently is the Deputy Principal/Faculty member of the Institute of crisis Management Studies.

In 1999, Thapa become the first person to become a PhD graduate in the Nepal Army. She graduated from Songkla University Thailand, and has published more than 23 scientific research articles in national and international Journals. Initiative for Research, Education, woman and Community Health, for which she is led the supervision, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the research project.
