Dr. Deepak Bikram Thapa Chhetri is a disaster risk reduction, climate change, civil and environmental engineering professional with more than 15 years of experience in academia, research, consultancy, and professional capacity development. He holds a PhD in Engineering and has specialized academic training in Disaster Mitigation, with research focusing on local climate, satellite-based environmental monitoring, urban climate, climate change, and disaster resilience.
He has worked with universities, government and security institutions, local governments, and development partners, including UNDP-supported initiatives, on disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, early warning systems, institutional capacity building, and climate resilience. He is actively involved in postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, research supervision, professional training, and disaster simulation exercises.
At Samarpan Academy, he teaches courses related to Disaster Management, Safety Engineering, and Project Management in Disaster, integrating academic concepts with practical experience from Nepal's disaster risk management and climate resilience sectors
