Today’s discussion meeting was held at the Institute of Crisis Management Study, Tribhuvan University (ICMS, TU) with the team of ICMS, DFID and UK Aid. The meeting was participated by Chair, Ram Thapaliya, PhD, Lt.Gen. Bala Nanda Sharma (Retd.) Executive Director, Brig. Gen Prof. Narbada Thapa (Retd.) PhD, Deputy Principal, Kishor Adhikari, PhD, Counselling Coordinator and Er. Rajeeb Dahal, with Mr. Mette Nielson, Peace Security and Justice Advisor from DFID Nepal and Venetia Bellers and Matthew Jackson evaluators.
DFID works through socio-economic, development and risk reduction of disasters in the seven provinces. Following the post-2015 Gorkha earthquake, DFID has allocated 12.9 billion pounds for post-earthquake reconstruction and 27 percent of Nepal's overall economic development budget.
The discussion also focused on successful implementation in the event of a hazard for proper risk mitigation and preparedness. It has delivered effective aid to the population that has been affected. Meanwhile, today's meeting focused on partnering for detailed thematic area information. By utilizing open source for all stakeholders, dynamic factors such as migration, climate change, earthquakes, floods, socio-economic vulnerabilities. These open sources data will continuously monitor and update through one common medium that will allow everyone to be on one common work on the same page”.
